"Right now, how worried are you about what I think of you?" I ask.
"Not especially. But then this is a 1-to-1 conversation. Also, I want you to understand my situation. Hoping you can help..."
"So, while talking to me right now, you're focused on your business objective. Because that's more important than what I might think of you?"
"Well, I suppose so..."
"How many career hours have you spent in conversation or small group meetings, where your absolute focus has been on tackling business objectives?" I press.
"Thousands!"
"And how many hours in front of larger groups... where you've been similarly focused on business objectives, rather than worrying about what your audience might think of you?"
"Aha..."
